Set up for your organization

Ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to deploy the XML manifest through Integrated Apps. Access follows the users and groups your admin assigns.

  1. Download the XML manifest from this page.
  2. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, open Settings → Integrated apps → Upload custom apps. Choose Office Add-in and upload the XML file.
  3. Review the requested workbook permissions, assign a small pilot group, and complete deployment. Your admin can extend access after testing.
  4. Sign in to Excel with your assigned work account. Look for Open Finsider on the Home ribbon, or under Home → Add-ins → Admin Managed.

Requires a supported Microsoft 365 tenant and an administrator with deployment permissions. Allow 24–72 hours for the ribbon button to appear, then restart Excel. If Upload custom apps is unavailable, your admin can use Add-ins → Deploy Add-in on the same page.

Development and testing

Manual setup, called sideloading, is for development and testing. Download the XML manifest above, then choose your platform. Your organization must permit custom add-ins.

Excel on the web
  1. Open a test workbook at office.com.
  2. Select Home → Add-ins → More Settings → Upload My Add-in. Depending on your Excel version, this may appear under More Add-ins → My Add-ins.
  3. Choose finsider-excel-agent.xml, select Upload, then open Finsider from the Home ribbon.

If Upload My Add-in is missing, ask your admin about the team setup above. Switching browsers or clearing browser data requires uploading the manifest again.

macOS desktop
  1. In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder and enter ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Documents/.
  2. Open the wef folder, or create it if it does not exist. Copy finsider-excel-agent.xml into that folder.
  3. Save your work, quit and reopen Excel, then open a workbook. Choose Finsider under Home → Add-ins; the Open Finsider button opens the task pane.

Windows desktop

For desktop testing, Microsoft supports a trusted shared-folder catalog. Your IT team may need to configure it. You can also test in Excel on the web.

  1. Save the XML manifest in a folder. Use Properties → Sharing → Share to share that folder with your test account and copy its network path.
  2. In Excel, open File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Add-in Catalogs. Add the network path and select Show in Menu.
  3. Save your work and restart Excel. Open Home → Add-ins → Advanced → Shared Folder, select Finsider, and choose Add.

Microsoft does not support shared-folder distribution for production add-ins. Use administrator deployment for ongoing team use.

About this add-in

The download is an Office XML manifest that connects Excel to excel.finsider.ai. It requests permission to read and write the open workbook; workbook changes require your review and Apply. Use a current version of Excel with Office Add-ins enabled.
